A new Secessionist movement?

It isn't California. Just some idiots in the minority that like to go "Wah, wah". Sounds like Brown is actually trying to get them unterminated. Of course Arnie inherited a big pile just like Obama did. So you can't really blame it on him. He won't be back.

Brown isn't making either party happy right now. He's doing what needs to be done instead.

Please explain this.

I don't think anyone is going to be scared by this because it has no chance of succeeding. If you are fed up with your counties policies there is a process to change them, if every time there was a political disagreement a state would break off to form it's own rules we would have 200 states. If anything this is just a waste of time and money when they could be tackling real issues.

It's my understanding that he's making quite a few cuts in a lot of programs. I have heard that both parties are upset at him. The pubs because he's not one of them and the dems because he's cutting social programs. Is that not the case. Try to be subjective in your answer. i would like to hear it from a Californians view.

It seems like everything is grandstanding these days. These people do whatever they need to just to get their name in the headlines. Even if it's just making dimwitted statements about historical happenings. They don't care. All that matters is that people know there name.

Meanwhile nobody wants to actually tackle the issues. They just grandstand and try to make it appear to be the fault of the other party. That part goes for both parties.

He accepted the budget as presented, after he vetoed it, trying to keep certain tax hikes in place that have no place being there anymore. He admitted defeat. Mr. Brown did not "make" the cuts. He approved them, reluctantly. The house made the cuts. Mr. Brown is as ineffective now as he was the first time around.

I agree that neither party is pleased with him, but doing what has to be done? He couldn't argue his way out of a paper bad and THAT is why the cuts were made. He had no platform to stand on.

PS - born, raised and lived in California all my life. I remember his first turn at office. Linda Ronstadt barefoot at the podium with him.

Fair enough. Don't live there and don't care enough to do the research. So I'll take your word for it.

I like Linda Ronstadt too. Unfortunately I'm only 52 so I didn't get to participate in the hippie movement. I was only about 10 or so or I would have been a hippie.

My neighbor who actually lives in LA (has his retirement home across the way) says they just cut registration fees in half. That kind of stuff must blow the wind out of the TP people. It will be interesting to see his approval numbers in a year or two. Of course he was pretty much unchallenged if I remember right. One of those rare elections when the person with about 1/10th of the campaign war chest as the other person had, won.

LOL! Meg Whitman spent WAY more than he did, but lost, because, unfortunately this state is extremely liberal. We current have a San Bernadino county supervisor, Sharon Runner, making waves for OUR side. Not that it will go anywhere. The registration fees were out of control. I have a 2002 Corolla and the annual fee was $225. Before the increase, when it was new, I was paying $112. This state is feeling the economic depression and not pulling out of it either. Fees need to be reduced so people are not driving to what jobs they DO have illegally. Sales tax went down 1%. That one has been in place for about 4 times longer than it was supposed to be.

IMHO all these cuts are because of past mismanagement in the state offices. Grey Davis made the mess, Arnie did not much to clean it up, and Brown TRIED to make it stick, but couldn't. Thankfully. I am wondering about the gas tax that was passed in like 1992... Are we relieved of that yet??
