I say this in all seriousness. Mexifornia has been a joke here for a long long long time. And it is NOT accurate. Yes there are illegal Mexicans here, but we also have a large population of illegals from Ecuador, El Savador, the Philipines, etc.

Don't forget Guatemala. Alot of the illegals here are from there. Funny the mexicans don't like them I think they think the Guatemalans will under cut them on pay or so I am told.

the ones that cross mehico's southern border are shot or arrested. if mehico can keep their southern border secure, why cant we?

We could if our government wanted to. They are our cheap imported labor and the pendulum is swinging the other way now and they are willing to work for what is offered. When they start wanting higher wages here for minimum wage labor the pendulum will swing the other way and those jobs will go to the countries that want them. Our social programs are attractive to them also, another reason secession is gaining speed.

Great idea. The citizens can then pay the salaries of two governors, two lieutenant governors, two comptrollers, all their staff, two sets of legislators with their staff, two complete departments of motor vehicles, two complete redundant state police, highway, agriculture and other administrators, along will full equipment, vehicles, separate computer networks, IT staffs, office staffs, etc... At least it will reduce unemployment.

Large corporations merge to cut costs and eliminate redundancy (for example Northwest and Delta airlines, Continental and United Airlines). California wants to do the opposite, create redundancy and increase costs. Brilliant.

Or maybe the new state can outsource governance to China to save costs?

The view looking in at a neighboring state is not always the same as the view looking out. Think of an animal in the zoo they look neat but it really depends on which side of the glass you are on.
