I've seen that before too birdnutz. Friends of the family tried for 20 years to get pregnant. They fostered some kids through the way, but when they turned 45, they said time to start retirement and partying.... BAM she's pregnant. Their son is now 4.
Hey everyone! There are valid questions here... lemme address:
Any time a thread is removed, a PM is suppose to be sent to the original poster on why it was removed. If that didn't happen, then we apologize. We've got a great group of moderators here, but like many of us they get busy and none of us are perfect.
Any time a post is edited by a moderator there is suppose to be a comment in the post with a quick blurb about why it was edited.
Many of the items removed or edited are things that we (the staff) consider in the gray area of appropriateness for this forum. We often err on the side of caution, and do so based on our collective 50 years of experience working with this community.
Also, many times threads are moved to the staff section for review and cleanup... not because of what the original poster posted, but because of replies. In these cases we decide if it is worth the effort and time to do all the editing, but either way the original poster should be notified via PM.
Please don't confuse our love of this group and desire to see everyone get along with bitterness or banning freedom of speech. No member has the insight to the thousands of reports we get from other members on different posts. Please keep this in mind when judging the actions of our staff.
Regarding "freedom of speech": This is a very interpretable statement. BYC does NOT support "freedom of speech" in the traditional sense. You can not come on this forum and talk about adult topics, porn, drugs, hate speech, etc. We also don't allow PETA or Cock Fighting topics and discourage religious and political topics. BYC was not established as a forum of freedom of expression... there are other forums out there that allow this, but I promise 99.3% of you won't like them as much as you like BYC (for the .7% that do, they usually end up being unhappy here and some get banned).

I've had things edited, and I know the mods do a good job. If you post on any contentious thread, unless you are very careful, you will be edited. I haven't always agreed on the editing, but by using this forum, I agreed to the rules. For the number of posts and the speed of some of these threads, the mods are amazing.

Shellie~ Hang in there, hopefully it'll happen for you soon. One of my best friend had lots of problems getting pregnant, and I know how hard that was for her. I'll be thinking of you.

I have to admit that following a big clean up of another thread in the Predator section I took out posts from the Owl thread that were in retaliation to or addressed over the controversy in the other thread. While the warnings posted in the original thread were clear I did use the multi-post delete function to take out the stuff in the Owl thread, and all the replies to that stuff.
Sometimes it's done that way to get a thread back on track, or to maintain the continuity of the thread, if you have to take one post out, the reply to it has to go too. While editing each and every post to say why sounds great once a thread has 3 pages of people calling names back and forth I tend to figure you know why the posts went missing. Those that needed warnings got them, if your post is missing and you did not get a PM it was cleaned only to preserve the thread.
It's also a time thing, as fast as the multi-post delete was it still took me a over a half hour to get both those threads back on track. So if you see a thread missing for a while, or changing it's because we are working on it, it might be in review, or maybe it has been taken out, but I agree, for the most part everyone sends a PM if the whole thread is gone. Why oh why do people who don't deserve to have children have them no problem and then those people, like you, who do deserve to have them, have such great difficulties??? It just doesn't seem fair somehow.
