a nice breed of pig for a pet-my list of breeds

Oh! your looking for a pet pig, like the one in the video below.

Berkshire's are awesome bacon pigs, really fine tasting. Some say the best.

If the one you all had when you was kid was Red it was probably a Duroc. They can get really big. We had them when I was young. My favorite was a Hampshire. I still remeber my mom rubbing our boars belly even if he was close to 500 lbs. We had to get rid of him cause he was killing the sows when it was time to breed.

the one we had may have been a duroc but he wasn't mean tho.he was probably a mix because he came from a man down the road who had babies in several colors and my grandpa picked the red one.
that video is adorable.i have heard of the teacup pigs for house pets.they are like $5000.i just want a happy sweet barnyard pig although i wouldn't turn down a teacup.lol

i was raised around my grandparents GOS pigs, they had a "breeding" trio and they they spent the winter spring and summer in movable pens fetrilizing and lightly tilling the existing beds, they never rooted deeply and were fairly light footed and did a good job od shallow tilling the veggie beds without turning them into mud pits. then in the fall they moved the pigs to thier small orchard where they got to eat all the windfall fruit they wanted, they would root a little and kept the grass in the orchard gone (my grandfather didnt want to have to mow the orchard) fertilized the orchard but NEVER bothered the trees. the boar was a little hard on fences though, not because hed challenge them but becaus ehe was a big boy and loved to rub on the fence posts (no electric fencing in the uk when i was growing up lol)

even as a breeding trio all three were amazingly sweet pigs, they loved attention but wenrt pushy about it, if you called them theyd come over for ear scritches but otherwise they were like respectfull dogs
like all pigs, very inteligent, they picked up all kinds of tricks.

there known as "orchard pigs" in the uk
not to mention, they are dang cute!

when i get my own place id LOVE a GOS as a pet if i have the space.

i agree.
pot bellies here are around $300-$500 at the most.maybe it depends on where you live.

the kunes are cute but alittle to high right now.maybe i could get a reject baby.lol-if i were planning on raising and breeding them it would be ok but too much for my first pig.

It's not that the Duroc is mean, she just doesn't like attention as much as the other pigs.

we mainly have our Hamps because they were cheaper to purchase. Around here the average weaner Hamp is about $70-100 if you aren't interested in a registered pig.

There was only one GOS breeder around here and they wanted somewhere around $400 for their babies. It was a bit out of my price range.
