Hope your eye is better, Long story short: I am brooding a lone chick indoors and I quickly learned to ALWAYS wear my glasses if Dottie was out of her brooder and I was on the sofa. She likes to nap on me while I'm napping, and she finds all of my facial features irresistible for pecking. I have been blowing into her face, which at least interrupts the assault.
BTW, my (too large) flock includes or included three of the four breeds you have. The Buff rarely bothers to lay anymore because she knows that as the queen of all chickens, she needn't bother. The Gems are among the only birds still producing at this time of year, and the RIR I had was a lovely dancer, named Ginger Rogers, who laid gorgeous big eggs that would rival the size of the Gems' offerings. I've never had Dominiques, but toyed with the idea because they seem to be great heritage birds.
Good morning and welcome to the BYC flock!!! I have a BR pullet that loved to do that while sitting on your shoulder (leave it to the kids). She mostly got your eye lid because of her position but still hurt like heck! LOL
