A PIP!

Awwwww, have you tried 'screaming' back at him/her? Sometimes they need that type of encouragement.
Yeah I took one of my bigger older chicks and held it next to the incubator to maybe encourage her to pip. The egg is quivering and has been since yesterday so I hope we get a baby soon so #1 isn't all alone. Their dad was a bantam and I wasn't anticipating how tiny the first one was. I don't think I'll be able to mix them with the week olds for a little while.

The baby tried to pip internally from the wrong side and was found dead today. The first to hatch is the only one that made it.

His/Her name is Blue. After all this I don't think I'm cut out for hatching. Im a mortgage paying adult and lordddddd I've cried like a baby over these peeps. Blue is so tiny I'll be going to the feed store and getting an equally tiny friend for her as the bigger chicks just run her over. Edited to say she had little Band-Aids on her feet yesterday because her feet were horribly crooked but today she is moving good without them.
