A Pox on Mine House

I hope your family gets to feeling better. My house is about the same. Took DD to Dr Sat with 104 temp. - she had strep throat :rolleyes
DH has also been sick with the crud and our 7 month old has been fussy. Hopefully she won't get sick.

We use Soltice - alot better than Vicks. Rub on cheekbones, throat, under nose, on chest.

Our prayers are with you.

My mom had us drink apple juice with a couple of tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in it for colds and sore throats. It worked! It lessened the severity of the cold, and if caught soon enough, it would kill the cold. As I got older, I would make the vinegar stronger, hold my nose, and choke it down!!

I had forgotten about this...I should try this with my kids.

I hear great things about "Cold-Eaze" lozenges from a doctor friend; says they really cut down on the length of the cold.

And my neighbor, a nurse, swears by the Airborne chewables (get generic; cheaper) to help you get over it. Gives your system a strong boost.

I did not do the things mentioned above, and just now got over my strange cold virus...2 months later!! It has been awful. Had to do 3 different antibiotics to kick. The people I know who didn't do the antibiotics? Pneumonia. I hated taking that many, believe me. And it hit everyone I know who had it the same way...digs into your chest for the winter, it seems. Feel better!

It's probably purely psychological, but I swear that when I'm feeling all lowdown with the crud, the smell of pure spearmint essential oil lifts my spirits immensely, and seems to even help me breathe a little better. I put it EVERYWHERE when I need a lift!

Hope you feel better soon, all of you.

Hope you feel better Miss P. Don't worry about my bag, take your time with it. Just get better.

I think I'm getting something too. I can always tell by my horrible nightmares and pounding headache.

Gargle 3X daily with salt water 1/2 tsp. per cup. Also flush out sinuses with one of those kits from the drugstore. Then take Mucinex for chest colds.

The Mucinex is really the thing that works. The salt water is just kinda comforting and makes things feel temporarily better and less goopy. But the Mucinex will thin the snot and get it up out of cracks and crevices. Works WAY better than the dextromethorphan-based cold remedies.

Other than that, drink lots of fluids and sleep.

For colds and flu I brew up Life Everlasting tea. Not sure if you have the plant up where you are, but it's the first thing my granny gave us as kids. I like it with a little honey and lemon.

Hope you and yours feel better soon. Being sick is no fun, especially during the holidays.

Bummer. Woke up yesterday with a dry throat, went to bed last night coughing. Got up today with a stuffed head, aching ears, sore throat and head ache. I don't have time to be sick! And I had my flu shot
