I am a big Tampa Bay Rays fan and am just curious what this means:
Tampa Bay Rays Designated DH Joe Dillion for assignment.

I could never figure out what people mean by this.

That means they are looking for an assignment to a position on the team for him. They have him, and not enough spots for the players they have. So he is looking for an assignment.

It means he is off the roster and the team has 10 days to make one of 3 decisions: trade him, release him, or place him on waivers. Usually what happens is they place him on waivers and if he clears waivers, he is sent down to the minors.

Soccermom has lots more patience with the workings of MLB than I have. I think of both as getting fired, but maybe getting paid anyway.

I say who cares what it means. Have them send him here to Cleveland Ohio, they are trading everyone that was any good. We need help. Not that the coaches think so.

Lol! The Mets need help. I am a yankees fan and my moms b/f is a mets fan. Imagine the fun I have when the mets lose

. I am happy the yankees beat the red sox though.
