I really enjoyed reading this thread! Lovely animals you have Ollie! I currently have 5 dogs, 1 cat, 33 hens and 2 roosters, Id have loads more but hubby keeps me grounded and I really dont mind that. If we had the land and the money then hed be fine with that. Something he has taught me was that who cares what anyone says they are not paying the bills and we dont ask for help in any way. So I dont care what people think!

I just like to think I have come full circle, my parents brought me home to a trailer when I was born, and they were biker people with animals running around. Now I live in a trailer, with tattoos, a bike riding hubby, and animals running around. So what!
BTW, I personally think it's the best way to keep the people away who annoy you! (all the animals and such!)

When my Jenna died my mom told me that I should not get any more dogs, that they do not live long enough and break my heart, that I should find more people to surround myself with.
I told her that I would stick to dogs. People do not need to die to break your heart and some people seem to enjoy doing it. I have learned the hard way that dogs are much more loyal.

My friends at school call the pet person because I have a dog, two parakeets, a guinea pig, 12 fish, a cat, and 4 chickens. Overall of 21 pets.

Well, I understand somewhat, because I was a child. We were all children once so we have some idea.

I always used to get asked if I felt guilty I only had one child. That one makes me mad. It's not anyone's business how many children I have, or why I didn't have anymore. My child is now a healthy happy talented teenager with lots of friends. Just so rude....

I do agree with you - reasonable requests are just that, reasonable. I really don't have a problem with that. And you are a moderate person; I believe that. Most people are. I dont have a problem with optional home visits, either - if it's my option, not yours.
But at some point in becoming watchdogs, purging those we perceive as undesirable, we step over the line. You yourself admit that there are those who do get carried away. I'm willing to bet they were once moderate people, too.
If you recall, Germany went that way once. And we fought a revolution in this country over formerly moderate controls gotten out of hand...

Now, I suggest we let the happy, animal-loving folks get on with their thread. You and I can take this up in private.

I dunno. It mad me angry as heck though. I had a very bad pregnancy, and after her birth I had to wait until healed and have a surgery done that would not let me have anymore.
If I did choose not to have the surgery, my risk of not surviving the birth was very high. The nurse in the room right before my surgery gave me a lecture about how I was being selfish etc etc. My doctor came in and chewed her out right in front. I also told my doctor I didn't want that nurse any where near me.
Over the years, I've had similar experiences with people saying that to me. Some were perfect strangers, some weren't. Sorry, I made my choice with great thought involved. I know I made the right one, and it wasn't for me. It was for my child.
It amazes me how some people are so rude and ignorant about things like that.
