I looked at the ad, was dry-eyed and skeptical- if you want to publish a novel, Craig's List is not a good venue. And if you want to get someone's attention, you don't do it in a zillion lines of single-spaced, non-punctuated gibberish.

Good point, terrible presentation. If it's true, which I doubt, then the writer needs some counseling. If it's not, then I say Luke has found a new venue for acting out.

However- people DO need to be educated about pet purchases! Thanks for posting this story, it covers a lot of different issues.

The biggest problem is the parents let the kid name it. The only names our chickens get are soupy, fajita, roasty...

I don't make my 10 year old participate in the kill, but he does know where our food comes from.

This is not the first year this story has been put out there. I have read it for the last few years at the same time each year. Someone didnt make this up just this year. It is just one of those things that an animal love wrote a while ago and posts it were ever they can just before easter. I think the story is great, however, the way it was written was extremely hard to read, lol.

I do agree that this person should have written the story more legibly. It was very hard to read. The thought is what counts though.

My friend just thought it was so cool to get ducks for easter..6 of them. She wanted them because I had 3 I was raising for the fair. Well...she got bored and tired of them and dumped them in a polluted creek when they were just getting their feathers in. When I got there they were covered in oil and other stuff. They would have surely died if I hadn't adopted them.

If your going to get a bunny,duckling, or chick for Easter for a kid and they get bored of them.. Just find a home for them and don't dump them off the side of the road like a pop can.

That is what I believe.

made up maybe but the story DOES happen every year. four of my hens were sold to a guy that lives in inner city columbus ohio, when they were little pufflets of course, and a friend of mine stepped in when he was going to dump them and 3 years later they're going to be my dinner but they have been happy hens all along. WE need to be their voice and this guy got an earful as did the "pet" shop that sold them. katy in baltimore ohio
