A Tribute to our gone but never forgotten Ducks..

Hello...I'm terribly heartbroken at the loss of my Sweet Call Hen Penelope.
I know others have suffered too. If anyone wants to post pictures and stories about their amazing Ducks that have crossed over Rainbow Bridge please free to post here.
This is Penelope my first Call Hen. She was exceptional in my eyes. A great mother, knew her name. She was leader in my Flock. She passed away in her sleep with her daughter by her side. She was possibly 5.5 years although I think a bit older...Buried her next to her Run so she is always with her Flock.:hugsView attachment 1572385View attachment 1572386View attachment 1572387View attachment 1572388View attachment 1572389
Sorry to hear about Penelope. :hugs

So sorry to hear about your sweet little duck. I'll do a tribute to my ducks that are no longer with us as well(if that's okay).

Vanilla Creamy (named by my 6 year old sister)
October 21st 2017 - May 22nd 2018
Vanilla Creamy lived a painfully short life, but in her life she was very loved by our entire family. She was a quiet, gentle duck, who I still miss very much. She died from egg binding, whilst trying to lay her very first egg.
Story:
One night I was on my bed (probably browsing BYC) when I heard Vanilla Creamy going crazy from outside my window. I looked out the window to see a that a hawk had pinned down Vanilla Creamy's best friend, Fluffy. I raced outside and threw a stone at the hawk, which caused it to fly away. But it had already done it's damage. Fluffy was gurgling, blood coming from her mouth, two deep puncture wounds in her back. There are no avian vets where I live, so there was nothing that I could do for Fluffy. I stopped the bleeding and applied an antiseptic cream to her wounds. I put her in box, but fluffy called and called. Vanilla Creamy had followed me inside, so I put her in the box with Fluffy, Fluffies calling instantly stopped. I would know by morning wether Fluffy would live or die. In the morning, I was overjoyed to see that Fluffy was still alive, but she had suffered from a (suspected) lung puncture. Little by little she recovered.
Fluffy now has two beautiful ducklings.

Rest in peace Vanilla Creamy, you will be forever missed, my sweet little feathered angel.

Ducko
November 2017-August 2018
Ducko, believe it or not, was on TV! He featured in the show, Fanimals- Animal Olympics, and he did great! Ducko wasn't the tamest duck, but he was very sweet, he enjoyed going to the beach, and going for walks. He had to be euthanized due to an irreparable dislocation of his lower jaw, which rendered him unable to eat, and in so much pain.
Rest in peace Ducko, you will be missed.
