A Video Message From Me - Culling Complete - Update on Post #1

I'm sorry.

The next time someone asks why it matters if a bird is in quarantine I'll show them this video.

PC!!!! This is so sad! Don't give up though, don't be afraid to start anew with your flock...

Thank you so much for admitting to your mistake. Too many people are not brave enough to MAKE A MOVIE of how stupid they had been. Don't be too hard on yourself--everyone makes mistakes somewhere in there. Hang in there, OK?

PC i forgot to ask....
your flock has tested positive for MG..

are the roosters safe for human consumption?

sorry I dont want to sound insensitive but there have been many topics about eating a "sick" bird

Thanks for sharing and hopefully drilling into our heads the importance of bio security - My DD is working part time on a local sheep farm and after seeing this I will be making her watch the videos so she will be diligent in cleaning her slop boots before and after leaving each location-I know I would be devistated if I had to cull my entire flock, I can only imagine how it would affect my kids.

sorry for you loss - we are all here for you on BYC and be sure to let me know if there is anything you need.

So sorry. Thank you for sending your message to help educate the rest of us! Especially those of us who are new to chickens.

Don, thank you for the lesson. I deeply regret that you are having to go through this horrible experience.

But what if the new birds are carriers that don't actually show symptoms? Do you need to have any new birds tested before adding them to your flock?

PC I am so sorry about your flock. I certainly has made me stop and think.

What I would like to know is, if this can be passed to an egg, is it ever safe to buy eggs for hatching and let a broody hen hatch them? That is how I have been planning on increasing my flock, as I only have pullets. Is there a safe way to do this?
