Love the side view of the chickens on the slide, looks like they're lining up to slide down it!

They kind of are! They walk up the steps I screwed into the front of the slide but they hop on the sides and slide down! Amadeo, the rooster, paces the bar at the top of the slide like he's supervising his girls.

Thanks for all the nice compliments. I am very proud and excited! I became so discouraged when I realized how many chickens I WANT to have and how little money I have that can be spent on housing them. Looking online at coops for sale just crushed me. Only when I walked around my yard did I see possibilities for housing EVERYWHERE!!!
If necessity is the mother of invention, being on a shoestring budget is the father!!!

This is so excellent! I always say anyone can spend a lot of money to make something but few can do it with little or no money! I think this is so clever!! YaY!!

Thanks! My dad always says the same the thing! When I was a kid and wanted him to buy something I hated that but now that I am an adult on a thin budget I am quite thankful he did!

Thank you for posting your coop!!! I'm already working on a combo run/coop, but because our girls won't be able to free-range (due to neighbor's dog and a strong hawk presence), I've been looking at different daytime portable run ideas. The old A-frame swingset seems perfect. Is it really lightweight enough to move regularly?

That's awesome! I am planning to do the same thing. How many chickens do you have? I just have three now but I want to get up to ten. I may make a run out of the swingset and make a coop that attaches. I want to move it around from time to time.
