I was amazed to overhear my sister-in-law tell her kids that the eggs I drop off each week were not fertile because the rooster had to sit on the egg after the hen laid it and auntie takes them out of the coop right quick so it wont happen!
She was a little uncomfortable telling the kids (and herself!!) that they were all eating fertile eggs... well, then we decided to hatch some and took that days lot + five from the fridge and whoa- all 12 hatched!! I am curious who is eating our eggs at her house now... ha ha. I want to whisper to her daughters that if they keep the egg next to their body for 20 days they can hatch a chick too!
Once you've eaten fresh eggs there is no going back & once I saw how happy chickens live there was no way I would put my $$$ anywhere near mass production any more. Ignorance is bliss for some, I guess.
Enjoy your eggs!!
