About to get some chicks....

That was a concern I have 2 feathereg maran chicks the babies are in my utility room seperate from the coup
I would say try it out on a day that you can keep a close eye on them and check them often to make sure everybody is doing okay. I had issues a couple of times with my White rocks getting attacked by the others. I would check on them at night everybody was fine but in the morning bloody wings. So I pulled them out and applied antiseptic to the wings, then kept them separated for about a week then tried again. Everything okay for a week or so and it happened again. I figured it was probably because they were crowded so I took them out of the brooder and put them in my 6 X 8 henhouse. All doing fine now. Go figure.

I have a feathered marans, and he never got picked on by the other hens. The only one who ever picked on him was the dominate rooster, who wasn't the nicest. About to get some polish, so I'll see how that works out as well.

Ok this is Custard. 3 weeks old. Americana or Aracauna mom with RIR dad. any ideas whether it's a hen or rooster? I was afraid the tail feathers made it look like a rooster compared to our other 3 week old baby, but they are two different mixes, so not sure if that is a factor.
