Acclimating an Adult Duck back to Winter Temps - Advice Please

It was 26 this morning en route to 34--a couple inches of fresh snow but no wind and blue, blue skies. So Angus headed out...

Well done. Observe him and intervene if he appears uncomfortable. My gut says that all will go well. Good luck.

My vet told me flat out when my duck got sick and the weather just changed to plan on keeping her in(because once the weather dropped it was staying there--no acclimation). She didn't make it.

I would not just put him out thee. I would opt to put in the bathroom(with window-so you can adjust sir coming in) or even garage with heat and drop the temp of the heat until it matches outside.

I am very sorry for your loss, and I think I would agree that it if an animal has been sick then a more conservative approach should be used.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

Our decision to return Angus to the flock this morning is very much based on the fact that he just got a stellar check-up from the vet and is in great physical condition (very well adapted to winter already). It's also mild today and will be mild both tonight and tomorrow, which will give us a chance to assess how he is doing. We will watch closely and report back. Agains, we're very sorry for your loss. We know how hard that is. :-(
