Acclimating Chicks to the cold question

Quote:
They aren't panting. Sometimes they do spread their wings. They are huddled here and there, not necessarily by the heat source. I have somehow misplaced my thermometer and am having a hard time finding it. I had it when I was setting up the brooder for these chicks because I was monitoring the temps. Then when I was putting the paper in was the last time I saw it.

Anyway, I'm still monitoring them. They seem to be doing ok and moving around a bit more now.

Ok, NOW they are panting. I removed the metal "door" so that the mesh grate was exposed to cool it down. Looks like I'll be up for a bit making sure that it doesn't get too chilled.

I was thinking the temps were a bit high for that age group as well. How are they doing today? They may have been huddled from being scared from the recent move to a new environment - not necessarily cold.
