I totally recommend the breed. I have 6 currently, and I have fallen head-over-heels for those fluffy, docile, and spunky birds! Just be aware that they are extremely hard to sex... so you probably will get another rooster.Yay!!! I’ve always wanted Silkies![]()

That looks like a chicken haven! Thankfully my dogs are very keen on keeping predators away so that hopefully won’t be a problemI realize I'm on the wrong thread. Below is how I like to raise chickens. I have friends with silkies but I would never own one. I need birds that can fend for themselves with lots of predators afoot and in the air.
Silkies would constantly go missing.
