I am expecting my first order from McMurray in Feb. I didn't have a clue about any other hatchery at the time-- just going with the first one that came up on google search..lol. I have 25 chicks of 9 different LF breeds (I liked all the PRETTY pictures)I have since discovered hatching.. oohh boy and I addicted. My first group was my own eggs.. and since then I have won a few auctions and am in the January egg swap - I like suprises so I am hoping for a breed I don't already have.. SURPRISE...I think that if I were to tell my husband that I was going to order some more live chicks, he might just croak! He has been very supportive during my hatching obsession - that might change when he realizes it isn't over.

I do plan to sell some once I am confident of which is a roo and which is a pullet..

I have three groups of eggs in the incubator now - luckily I have a hatcher to use on lockdown.

January 16, 20 and 27 with a few extra single egg days mixed in as I am testing out our new rooster

Addicted.. a strong word.. but true

I thought I was the only one crazy enough to do a staggered hatch! I have 1 egg due on the 15th, 1 due on the 16th, 26 eggs due on the 22nd and 16 eggs due on the 26th! I am glad I wrote it all down, both on the eggs and on my BYC calendar!

I only buy chicks as I don't have an incubator. The folks would KILL me if I did have one, however I have 2 seriously broody silkies which I'm waiting til their next broody-ness so I can sneak some quail eggs under

I've never tried ordering chicks before, it sounds exciting, but when I buy i'm really selective and bore the sellers to death inspecting all the chicks. LOL I also devote 90% of my time driving to Queensland to buy chicks as nobody sells anything in NSW
