I have 5 chickens, two are silkies and the others are Easter eggers. One rooster of each kind. 13 weeks old. I know that isn't nearly enough hens so I'm picking up 4-6 more ee hens this weekend and from another person I'm getting 2 silkie laying hens. I plan to separate the silkies into a separate area than the ee going forward so that the larger rooster doesn't try to mate them since they're little. My question is, how does introducing new chickens differ when you have a rooster? Is this even possible will he attack them?

In general a rooster has no interest to mate a young pullet.

But adding younger chickens into an established flock is always difficult. Best is to separate newcomers to get ‘aquinted’ first. See don’t touch.

Look up some info with ‘see touch’ or ‘ integrating’ in titles to look for info. This is one to start with:

I don’t have much experience with this. But do know that there is a second reason to separate newcomers. And this is called quarantine. Be sure the newcomers are healthy before adding them to your flock.
