Exciting news everyone!:ya We got goats!!! My family and I were planning on getting babydoll sheep, but after more research, they just didn’t seem like a good fit. So instead, we got two wethered Nigerian Dwarf goats. We went to Stone Silo Farms and picked them out. I highly recommend them, they’re lovely people and have lovely goats. Our two boys come home the 26th and I’m so excited! I’ll post pictures here when my mini goat “barn” is finished (hopefully this weekend). Here’s some pictures! They are so hard to photograph

Yay for you! :yesss: I want goats as well. They are going to have to wait until next year tho. This yr we invested in fencing in one section of our yard (@ 80ft x 80ft) with the original intention of it being a goat pen. I got chickens (6) instead. So my chickiepoos are in there and we'll get a few goats (I want Nigerian Dwarf Goats as well) next yr and move our chicks to a dif area that we'll fence in for them, probably similar in area size. I want to get females for milking and my neighbor has males so I'm hoping with maybe just a fee or so I can have an available stud. If not, maybe we'll get a buck and a wether. We're still in the planning stage lol! But that will give us a chance to build a better chicken coop for the chicks (we just have a prefab coop at the moment) and a shelter for the goats. And now my hubby wants ducks too so I'm trying to research and learn about them. :th Just another day on our little homestead. I love it tho! :love

That’s awesome! I hope you end up getting them :D I personally am not a fan of ewes, if they don’t get bred, they don’t give milk and they go into heat. I couldn’t deal with that, my neighbors would throw a fit with all the goat screaming. But as long as you’re breeding them, it would be great! Good luck!

Congratulations on the additions to your family! They're very cute :)

Yay, goats! Ours arrive in a couple weeks, also Nigerian dwarfs, two little doelings. We do want milk when they’re ready next year. In the meantime we hope they’ll help with weed control and brush clearing.

Oh awesome! They’re such cuties. Sounds like you’ll be having lots of baby goats running around by next year! :D
