Hooray, it'll be so fun hatching together!
Yes, it's true--there's no point worrying too much, though I'm sure I'll worry some anyway! It's just inevitable.
And put your eggs in as soon as you've done the twenty-four hours! When they're a little older like that I think it is best to just set them ASAP. You'll probably still have great fertility after a week, though--I think it's more about two weeks it starts getting questionable? If I'm remembering correctly, anyway.
Love your two EEs and Brahma! My dad and brother were amused by your roo's name.
The hen in the first photo has similar feathering to a few of my girls, though the ones in question are OEGB/something mixes. And with EEs, you should hopefully get some color diversity for your flock! Especially with your roo, he looks like he could create some interesting chicks! I always love seeing EEs because you never know what colors they're going to be! That's partly why I decided to breed my seramas, too--they don't breed true for color, so they can turn out interesting.
Here's my serama roo, Prince:
Here's the mother, Splash the broody hen:
And here's the other hen in the cage (A-class hen!), Charming, who possibly is the biological mother of some of the chicks:
Yes, it was too bad about my rooster, but he lived a long and very happy life.
I've still got some of his children, thankfully. He was a beautiful black Japanese bantam.
Good luck setting your eggs and getting your incubator going! I'm definitely going to PM you when my incubator arrives and when I set my eggs.
Hmmm, I wonder if I can capture anything with my camera as far as candling goes...
