without a doubt there is no fault on you....dogs who chase cars eventually get hit...and the owners are responsible for keeping their dog on their property which includes a public right of way, road and other's property.

So sorry you got bit but you are right...it is not the dog's fault, she was hurting. Bless its heart, I hope it is out of pain or was put down humanely if necessary.

You cannot be serious? I know of no state in the country that would not make the dog owner responsible for injuries caused...period. Dog bites are strict liability which means unless your dog is provoked, you are responsible for medical treatment, property damage, lost wages etc etc. With a leash law and the dog being on a public road...sorry dog owner is responsible. Proving provocation is not a cake walk...I know, I had to do it when my wolf caused 75 stitches in the neck of a man who broke into my home. His only solice is that the baby and I were not home at the time...had we been, he would have been at the coroner's office instead of the ER.

I don't think its your fault. People shouldn't be letting their dogs roam.

Sadly, where I am at drivers are held responsible for hitting a dog. Owners can report it to their insurance companies.

I also agree with everyone else. The dog bite is your neighbors responsibility.

alright guys listen. i am entitled to my opinion. everyone needs to lay off me just because i don't follow everyone else. thanks

Regardless of what anyones "opinions" are. The law is the law. All animals are the responsibility of the owner. If my chicken, cat, emu, are on our own property and you trespass - your problem. If the animal is on public property it is the owners responsibility.

Hope your finger heals as well as no hard feelings between your neighbor and yourself. That can be the trickiest thing to overcome.

This is why I would be unlikely to stop my vehicle after hitting a dog. I don't want to get bit and I don't want to deal with an unreasonable owner.

Hope you heal up fast.
