ADOR1 Automatic Coop Door?

One great thing about Rod is he is very accessible and doesn't mind all us chicken nuts bugging him!

I couldn't agree more ! Rod has been nothing short of the best when it comes to all the questions I had ! And one has to own chickens to understand why we're so crazy about the little critters !!

I installed mine today (well, I helped my husband install mine). I guess I need to use the programming feature because it was raining tonight and we had gone to run some errands. I came home to all of my chickens closed out of the coop. 2 of my juvenile SFH's were sitting in front of the doorway and the rest of them were on their outdoor coop, wet and miserable. I hope things look up once I try the programming (?) or is this just a fluke?

My chickens usually head in as soon as dusk approaches.

Has anyone else had this happen?

My chickens took to it imediatly even though I had to close up their old door and put the Ador almost 2 feet away and added a new ramp. I thought for sure they wouldn't get it but they surprise me daily with their intelligence. I am sure your flock has since figured it out.

I've had my Ador in or a little over 2 weeks now. I. Absolutely. Love. It. If you don't have one, order one today. I'm not affiliated with Ador in any way, but I am so happy with this door that I just have to encourage everyone who needs peace of mind when they go out to dinner, or go on a trip with a chicken sitter to get this door. It takes all of the worry out of having someone else look after your chickens. I just wish they had a dog door for my little Beau.

Windy Bay mine arrived on Friday!!! It was so easy to install. Thanks Rod it is terrific!!! Now all I need to do is finish building my run and get the chickens. My significant other, Jim is doing an amazing job. We just need the weather to cooperate!!! Uggh. I hope you are enjoying your door as well.

Hi irischick ! So glad your door has arrived and that you now have it up and running ! Mine hasn't shown up yet but I do have th tracking # and it's well on its way . Our weather here has been terrible lately; haven't seen the sunshine since last Tuesday and it has been nothing but rain ! Where are you located ?

I've had a Pullet Shut door for 3 yrs now. We've gone through a bunch of batteries. And now it doesn't work. I expect the expensive doors to last longer than 3 years. Instead of buying new parts for $100, I will be ordering today from you. PLEASE assure us the doors will last longer than 3 yrs! Cause now I'm into auto doors for $400+ and if yours goes out, I'm seriously going to consider manual power.... Ugh!! I'm so spoiled!!!

My ADOR automatic door may have saved my hens life. On Sunday we were evacuated from our home due to the Yarnell Hills Fire here in Peeples Valley, AZ. I was able (with my granddaughters help) to catch 8 of my young chickens to put them in dog crates ready for travel to our temporary location, but my one hen (Big Red) who is fairly new to us and still afraid to let us touch her, was having no part of this. We even tag-teamed her and still could not catch her. Since the fire was quickly approaching and the Sheriff had already stopped at out house to say we had to go NOW, the decision was made to leave her here. I did not want to do that because she could have been killed in the fire or by smoke, and who knows how long we would be evacuated, how could I keep her cool in the heat and make sure she had cool water to drink?

As I was loading the 4 crates into the truck I looked back at the chicken run and saw that Big Red was no longer in the run...she must have gotten so scared she went inside the coop. With only seconds to spare I ran back to the run and pushed the button on the ADOR so it would quickly close before she could run back out into the open run. With that door securely locked I entered the human door, shut it behind myself, and feathers flew, but within just a moment I had Big Red in my arms. She was terribly unhappy, but I was able to get her into the large crate, and safely in the truck too. I am so thankful I had the ADOR so I could quickly keep her inside the coop and capture her. Thank you Rod.
