I have seen exactly what you mentioned on many units. Some do it and some don't. Since, to my knowledge, it has not caused a functional problem, I've never determined the cause. It seems like I determined it was play in the gearbox of the motor itself. There is a bit of variation from motor to motor right out of the box.

I too have seen the same thing since installing my door yesterday. It doesn't seem to be anything overly concerning and from what Rod said to you in his response it appears to be nothing too serious.

It looks great! Be sure to check on your chickens the first night as it is not unusual for a chicken or two to be nervous about using the new door the first night. Once they eagerly exit thru it the first morning they will get over any fears.

Everyone went in and out with no fear at all. They were all in the coop long before the door shut for the night ! I left the factory settings on the door and so far it seems to be fine with not closing too early.

The first night, 3 of the ladies were locked out. No problems since then...(past 2 nights). Still checking each night after dark, just in case.

That is typical for the first night. I contined to check mine each night for weeks...never failed to close, and never locked anyone out again

WOW really? I find my door stays open WAY later than my last bird is in. I think it stays open a little too long. Hmmmmmmm

Hooray! I never had an issue with anyone getting locked out again after their first night when they were apprehensive about using the door. Glad your girls didn't have a problem with the new door.

i think this is partially my fault for not having shut the door until well past nightfall (8:45) a couple of nights sometimes, back when i had the old manual door... probably conditioned the braver ones to get away with sneaking in a little later.

Mine figured out pretty quick (maybe 2 days) that they needed to be in before sunset, or else wait for me to come out well after dark to let the stragglers in. They seem to innately know now what time they need to be in the house before the door closes on them. Like you, my closing times and opening times for that matter, were very irregular until I installed the Ador.

I am looking to purchase an automatic door for my chicken/turkey/goose house. I like the reviews that the ADOR1 is receiving. My only concern is whether it is big enough for my turkeys and geese. Right now they like to go out a big door instead of my smaller "chicken door". Has anyone used this door with larger "friends"???
