I still dont get the food thing, I am told the dirty part is that they eat and take it to water and drink and make a mess!

Right. So I have their food and water dishes in a rubbermaid bin. This way when they make a mess, I can easily rinse the bin out with a hose or even in the shower.

Similar to what we have here in the basement pen. It's the bottom half of a large plastic dog crate, so there is a doorway they can step through, but with a raised sill.

Awesome! It took me a couple of months to figure out a method that will work to keep the food clean. Are your ducks inside as well?

Here it is. We used to keep water in one and feed in the other but they hated that. now we just keep them in the same bin
and rinse it out frequently.

They are inside at night and during storms and sub-freezing weather.
