I've got no problem with you adding more ads, do what you need to support BYC, but I'm starting to get ads saying "New Rule in (my exact town) Nebraska leaves drivers fuming". Is that normal they're tracking where I live?

... or visit super-awesome-cool websites that allow you to become a member of a group that doesn't have ads showing![]()
BTW, how's the "jumpy ads" issue right now? I'm noticing it is WAAAAAY better for me. Hopefully y'all are seeing the same?
Good to know, very informative! Thank you! That would be quite entertaining seeing your friends face all over the Internet, like he's following youYes, that's VERY common with online advertising. The short version is: Any website you visit can see you "IP Address" which often gives the site (and advertisers) the ability to get an IDEA of the general area you live in. It is NOT specific to where you are... just a general metro location.
Also, pretty much all websites use "cookies" that show what things you are interested in so advertisers can remarket to you.
For example, the other day I went to my BFF's website (he's a public speaker). The next day, I went to a news site and saw a TON of ads for my buddy. Like every page had at least one ad with his big fat picture on it! I emailed him and was like WHAT THE HECK!?!? Turned out I got "cookied" when I visited his site, and Google AdWords was using that cookie to show me his ads because visiting his site showed that I had expressed "interest" in his services.
Same with a local florist's website I visited, then saw their ads all over the place.
So, there is some tracking on the interwebs, but I think it's pretty harmless, especially the geographic stuff, which tends to be super vague at best.
It's really jumpy when I first open a new thread, but it's only when the ads are loading. I have a slow connection so that is most likely my issue. Once they load there is no issue whatsoeverBTW, how's the "jumpy ads" issue right now? I'm noticing it is WAAAAAY better for me. Hopefully y'all are seeing the same?
Yeah its a bit better, is there anyway to make it so only one ad will load in one place... like it doesnt change to a new one as im scrolling. It makes me think ive scrolled too far.BTW, how's the "jumpy ads" issue right now? I'm noticing it is WAAAAAY better for me. Hopefully y'all are seeing the same?
