My wife has returned from work today at 3.30pm to let the girls out of their run to free range. The rain has not stopped all the time they have been free rangeing. We thought they may take cover when is got to bad but they have stayed out in the rain to the point that they were unrecognisable as chickens!!!

We have had to shut them back in there run to give them some cover...

Is this natural????

Lol yes my girls rarely come in out if the rain until they are so wet that they look more like ratd the hens lol they come in and groom the they head back out.

It's true, chickens don't know enough to come in out of the rain...

My grandpa had an old wives tale. If the chickens come out in the rain it will rain all day, if they stay in it will stop at some point during the daylight.

Some chickens don't mind getting wet others do. Over my 40 years of having chickens I've noticed some hens will stay in not dare get wet others could not care less.

I think the ones that forage in the rain are the smart ones, they know it brings worms to the surface.
