This is my first time hatching some babies. I put some Ameraucana and Silkies in my bator. It's been 3 days and I had to check my eggs. I can already see veining in a lot of them but this one picture is concerning. I don't want any eggs blowing up on me. Please tell me what you think about this red string looking thing. Thanks

Hey, don't worry about them blowing up on you if their dead. I've gone through a whole hatch with a dead egg and not have it blow up on me. The picture looks like the chick is dead, but it's early. I would wait until day 7 to throw the obvious dead eggs out. The only time a dead egg explodes, is if there's an infection in it, and you can tell if the egg's infected by a gruesome smell emitting from the egg. Throw that egg out immediately.
Hope that helped :)

Yeah that looks dead. Very early death. Yeah trust me you will know when an egg is about to explode. Its like seeping and horrible smelling. Like dead rotting carcass smell, you cant miss it. Well, i mean, unless you cant smell.

Ok thank you so much. That was one of my silkies

I need some more help please!!!! I put my eggs in the bator on March the 29th at 10 pm. Which day exactly and what time do I turn up the humidity and put them in lockdown. And do I candle them right before that? I did them on day 10 and took out the bad ones. I can't see in most of the blue ones to see if anything is in there alive. Will the explode on me?
