Dreaming of Spring Gardening in the Middle of a Wisconsin winter part 2

Lisa, a lot of tomatoes come from Mexico. If these silly tariffs stay in place, the price of tomatoes will be outrageous. so if someone wanted to make a little cash, he could sell tomatoes for a less expensive price and do very well. that is just my opinion.
i am thinking of doing it.
yesterday we had stuffed peppers from the raised beds. yummy .
the radishes are not coming up yet.
we had thunder almost all day yesterday.
3" of rain. we needed the rain. I didn't have to water.
the ferel cat is still earning his keep, down side is that he drops his quarry inside the garage. we don't find it until it stinks.
yesterday bil came and did a few chores that I couldn't do myself. then he helped me find the leak in the power steering on the tractor. glad it wasn't a $2O:hmmo cylinder. just a small hose.
I think I can splice it.
another warm morning. i can handle it. beats 2o below.

We got an inch and a half yesterday. 3 inch is a lot Jim. Nice to not have to water.

Store tomatoes don't have much flavor anymore. Hopefully produce doesn't get too expensive. I like my daily salads.

We were without our satellite dish for a few days. The guy came out yesterday and got it back. We have slow internet and getting stuff over the air is so hard, so it's nice to just turn it on again. Too expensive, but better than being frustrated daily.

hot again today. i got up early and checked the trap line. one set off . nothing in it.
then i took my bag of oats to the corn plot. hand broadcast the oats . laid it on kinda thick i think.
Annie is roasting some beef . it smells so good.
will have potatoes and gravy and a veggie.
it was a 12 pound frozen roast. i sawed it into 3 equal pieces. kept 2 frozen and cooked one.
the mosquitos are so thick outside. i wanted to have my coffee on the deck. no such luck. i don't know how they can fly and not run into each other

we haven't bought any corn from the farmer yet.
got my oats planted
radishes are growing nicely
it is 67F and very cloudy. looks like rain. good.
it can rain a little each day for about 5 days. that should get the oats to sprout.
i thinbk i heard a red squirrel. he better keep quiet or the cat might hear him.
haven't seen many rabbits lately. or the chipmunk
the gray squirrels don't hang out in our yard. they do come up from the river bottom when the black walnuts are ripe. i can just imaging how many trees are sprouting down there. Annie mows every sprouting tree down when she can. i have a few that i will have to cut down that are growing in unwanted places.

septic pumper was just here. did now have to pump it.
charged just for the trip charge, saved 180.oo .
with everybody moving out, it is mostly down to the two of us.
no rain on the newly planted oats yet. none until this weekend. i will be watering every day. have a touch of blight/black leaves on a couple of tomatoes. i pull them off as soon as i spot them. i don't think it affects the tomatoes that are already set.
the newly planded radishes are growing nicely.
next year i am not planting peas or beans in raised beds
i will try onions from seeds. in the other tub i will plant chives and basil. maybe some other erbs too
the carrots are growing very nicely. haven't had to pull any weeds . they look like a mini rain forest. the lettuce and beets, too.
yesterday i went to St.Point and got a shot in my shoulder. an old torn muscle from 1977. I jammed it a couple of weeks ago and woke it up. so far the shot has not kicked in too much.
i changed the bait in the traps to brocolli . i also opened up both ends of the traps. maybe chucky is clausterphobic ? he comes out and eats weeds between the traps, i tried to set the traps on top of those weeds.
kind of embarrassing to be outsnarted by such a tiny brain.

Hooe your shot helps Jim. I've gone to doctors for my leg and hip pain and did therapy and I finally tried a salonpas pad and it was like a miracle. I can finally walk across the yard without crying and sitting ever other second. It took me 4 days of wearing one constantly to read the box which said to wear it for only 12 hours. I would highly recommend trying one. I was very surprised at the pain relief I got. I've had both shoulders replaced due to arthritis and injuries. The first was done when I was 36. So I'm familiar with bad shoulders and how painful they can be.

Finally getting too many tomatoes.

Never had to trap a woodchuck. Not sure what they like. They are smarter than we think.

i was 33 when i fell off of a 8 ft wall and landed on my elbow. didn't break anything obviious so i never went to a Dr. never thought about a jambed shoulder. was just thankful I didn't break my arm.
kept right on working.
i have arthritis all over my neck and in that arm.
probably in other places too.
my problem is walking across uneven ground. my lower back hurts so bad i can't take another step
i have lawn chars all over the yard so one is always within reach. sometimes i carry one with me for the longer trips.
people tell me that if a chuck gets into a trap and escapes, they are ten times harder to trap,. i believe that.
the septic pumper was here, tested the tank. did not have to pump it. only 3 " of sludge in the bottom. charged trip and test $100.oo saved $180.oo.
