After tattooing their names on each other - not good news.

They are SOOOO young and just starting school, so it is a bit bittersweet for us. It's a grandchild. We just wish they waited. Til they at least hit 20!!!! Oh well. I guess I am gonna be shopping a bit.

Congrats!

She miscarried last night. Apparently she has some RH factor?? I don't know what that means. She is 19 and Kenny is 18 so while sad, it is probably best that they are not parents after just starting college.

Debi I am so sorry to hear that!!

My prayers are with your family right now.

I'm sorry, Deb. While it's probably for the best, it's still difficult and painful. We'll keep them both in our prayers...

She needs to get a Rh immune-globulin shot immediately!!!

Your son has a blood type that is pos. while she is neg. (Example O+ and O-) Apparently, if this caused the loss of the preganancy she has antibodies for the pos factor and it is possible the shot will not do her any good.

So sorry for the loss but maybe it is for the best.

I am so sorry for the loss of their baby.

But I am actually relieved for them that it happened now rather than later. Believe me, I know how difficult it is to lose a child and the pain now is as real as any pain can be.

I carried my first son til two weeks after his due date not knowing that he had a birth defect that took his life after birth. Although the pain has lessened over the years (he would have been 19 this past March) I still have some bad days from time to time.

Please know that I will praying for them and you during this difficult time.

I am Rh negative while my kid's dad is Rh positive. I was under the impression that it only became a problem in second pregnancies?

I didn't have to have the shot after my first child, my son, because he is Rh negative like me. I did have to have the shot after my daughter, because she is Rh positive like her dad.
Never had the third child, but had the shot just in case.
Sorry she lost the baby.

Becomes an issue when the child is pos and you are neg. During the delivery there is blood mixing of fetus and mother; so if the baby is neg and mom is neg, no problems. If baby is pos and mom is neg then mom develops antibodies if she is not given the shot(s). Any pregnancy (after the delivery of the pos baby to a neg mom) where the fetus is pos again will be attacked by the mom's immune system. That is why the doc err on the side of caution and give the shot(s) just in case.
