So I noticed on my buddy Ruger that his feet have some pink on the top...

Now, when we got him at 3 months old the folks said they got him from TSC, which would mean Hoover Hatchery. Now, I know hatchery stock is rarely ever near breeder quality right off the bat, but I would hope they do a decent job of differentiating an Australorp from a BJG. Here are the bottoms of his feet...

He does appear to have very little yellow to his feet, under the sand he has on, it is pale but there, which would confirm BJG. Does his foot look yellow, or too much whitish pink like an Australorp in color???

What did you get him as? Did you get any others with him? If you did, I should think it would become clear what his breed his as gets older because of the size difference compared with the others (provided they're different breeds). Even so, a BJG should still be bigger, right?

Take my words with a grain of salt, I have as of yet not owned either of these breeds.

Well, BJGs can take 2 years to reach full size. Being from TSC though, no idea how close to ideal weight he will get, though at almost 8 months he is quite large. Australorps though can get sizeable too, just not JG size. And he was the only bird we got from the folks who got him from TSC.

Well, just got cleaned up daytime shots...

and they are looking pretty Australorp-y :( Not exactly what I was hoping for, but he must be one of the biggest Australorp cockerels I have ever seen.
