Age when Cochins begin laying

I have two cochin hens who have yet to lay their first egg (I think). They are about 9 months old. Is this normal? Or do I have some very neat egg eaters? I have never seen remnents of an eaten egg.

Both of my standard Cochins started laying somewhere between 8 and 9 months. I remember thinking they were never going to start laying!

My Golden Laced were hatched last June. They just started laying about a month or so ago. But very sporadically...they keep wanting to be broody! My lemon blues have yet to lay an egg and they were hatched in August.

not to steal your post.but what is the usual egg laying age for barred rocks?

Thanks! I was getting concerned, but I guess this is normal. I will just keep waiting and twiddling my thumbs!

My Barred Rock is 5 1/2 months old and laid her first pullet sized egg today.
