Aggressive Rooster? Can he be tamed?

Well, this morning my 10 year old son was doing his chores outside and Jefferson flogged him from behind. I had one rule with my roosters and that was they can't go for my kids. Can you rehome a rooster? Do people want them? I am reluctant to just cull him right away. He is beautiful but I can't let him be near my kids.
Usually if people want them, it's for eating. 😔 That cockerel I mentioned in my earlier post was beautiful too. He was an Easter egger.
You could always post them on craigslist (with the disclosure that he has attacked people) and see what happens, but know that a lot of people don't want a rooster that has attacked.

Yes, unfortunately I don't think many people want roosters. Seems to be a lot of them on craigslist. I will give him a chance though. Maybe someone without kids can tame him.

Make sure to disclose up front the reason for the rehoming. Otherwise if he ended up flogging someone else in the new home, it could be a liability issue for you.

The use of a leaf blower has nothing to do with your cockrels behavior. Period.
He is showing what kind of rooster he is going to be. Human aggresive roosters on my farm last about 3 minutes after the first attack. Actually I see signs before the attack happens and take action (the axe).
I make all kinds of noise in the chicken yard and coop and house area that makes chickens scatter.
Mow grass
Weed whip
Use the pole saw
Chain saw.....
None of these things make a chicken turn mean.
My dogs picked up that I would shew the chickens off my deck and now the dogs do it for me.
Cull this rooster before he hurts someone.
Good luck!

Agree! And I wear clothes of any color out there, including my bright red scrub outfit, and nobody reacts. Human aggression is genetic, and then management matters a bit. Polite roosters have been raised many different ways, and jerks appear when they will, regardless. With experience (and you are getting some now!) you will recognize cockerels who are thinking bad thoughts sooner, much sooner, and watch them carefully. That actual first attack doesn't come out of the blue, there are indications sooner.

I am starting to wonder if he attacked me last week. I was outside in my muck boots, giving the hens some watermelon. All the chickens were rushing around my feet and I was trying not to step on them. I felt something slap against my boot and when I turned around, Jefferson was there. I thought I must have accidentally stepped on his foot or something....but now I'm not so sure.
