I'm using 3 different kinds of thermometers. I have a fish tank and regular in/out therm. that reads 98 - 100 with humidity around 30 - 40. Then I have a digital one that reads 99 - 102 with humidity at 20 - 30.

On my first try I had a bad thermometer that was really off, so I cooked them.

This will just kill me if I lose this group also.

Ohhhh that's confusing.... Maybe you need a third opinion

Or your temps are varied throughout. But that still doesn't make sense of the humidity reads.... at least the humidity doesn't matter as much. I'm using a digital and my eggs are doing great as far as I can see so maybe you should trust that one. But I do notice it gets messed up if it's under the fan. What bator do you have?

Yes! We would probably put a few eggs under a broody but ours haven't this year yet. I love broody hatching! So cute to see the little chicks peeking out from momma in the pics I see!

I found a video on youtube and built it out of an old Rubbermaid cooler. I modified the hot water thermostat so that it's more sensitive to temperature change. Lots of air vents and also I added a rubber tube so during lock down I don't have to open it to add more water.

I have a three thermometers in the center of the cooler. Right now 2 of them read 98 degrees with 30 humidity. The digital says 100 and LL meaning way below 10. *sigh

Well I had an ah oh moment and cracked one egg open while I was turning them this morning. Thankfully none of the contents got spilt in the bator, but I did do an egg-topsy. I saw veins and an embryo, much more then I saw with my first attempt...that means my homemade bator is working.

Yay! Sorry I meant to answer before. I'm so happy your hatch is going well! I'm starting to think my blrw and silkie eggs MIGHT be infertile. Which would royally suck

Here's to praying that the shells are too dark/thick to tell right now!

OMG OMG! I just candled all the eggs! 2 out of 4 silkies developing! and I SAW BABIES in the older minorca eggs being super active, moving around, etc. I managed to catch a glimpse of the babies in the younger eggs, but the minorcas were very noticable. They are older and the eggs are the smallest and lightest. I just about exploded with excitement, except I'm the only one awake here! So I sat down and wrote an insane message to Chicken Chickita all about my amazing 5 mins having the eggs out and being able to see in. Also, I can't remember how much but many, if not all, blrw eggs are developing and many of shay's, but some I can't tell completely cuz the shells are dark and I wanted to get them back in there. I'll do an official count on sunday night. How is y'all's hatching going?

This is my first hatch too!! Idk if your eggs were laid by your birds, or if you ordered them. Mine were laid by my button quail! First 3 laid on 06/07 due to hatch between 06/20-23rd. I am using a home made bator. Started out with a styrofoam cooler, moved up to a coleman haha.. Up to 10 eggs as of today!!! I saw at least one wiggle when I was turning tonight!!! Sooo excited!!!!!!

I just realy got a chance to look at the pics and I say, neither of the temps could hurt so it's all cool

And as for the humidity, if you're really worried about it you COULD put just a little bit of water in there every few days (3 or 4) just to be sure they aren't drying out! But you'll probably be fine if you don't too.
