Well I believe it is day 12 unless I am a day ahead.. But I got so nervous that they were not developing I took out the eggs and put them on a flat surface to see if I could see any movement. 8 OUT OF 10 WIGGLED!!! The 2 that didn't are too young to wiggle 1 and 2 days old. Plus one I think is a egg fart...

Oh my gosh! 80% hatch would be amazing! Even if the other 2 don't form, that's sooooo good. I'm happy for you

Okay guys opinion please! i have two eggs I am very dubious about. One I have pics of below and i believe it's a blood ring, but I want you guys to tell be I'm right before I do anything to it. Yes, I saw an embryo, but it wasn't moving so I think it's dead.....

and then the other i didn't put a pic up because I think it's pretty obvious. You can't really see anything. If there was an air cell it is now very dark and I can actually see a ring that's even darker that might have been where the air cell started. There are no veins and it's extremely dark where the yoke should be. I smelled something bad in the bator so I went searching. Some of the eggs aren't the cleanest in the world, but I did my best with those few and they are doing fine. They actually don't smell! But this one is a cleaner one and DOES. Rotten, my friends?

Wish I could help you. This is my second try since my first batch all died. When I did my egg-topsy they all looked like there was something in them, which turned out to be an embryo only. I had one stinker which looked like all the others.

I finally saw my first blood ring the other day. I wasn't really sure til I cracked it open and it was pretty obvious.

I'm really going by the green thermometer now and re calibrating the other digital one. Also I have been using a dropper full of water twice a day if the humidity is low. Last night I candled them and was so happy to see one moving around with the beginnings of a chick

. Sadly the silkee eggs were infertile. Hopefully next time my friend can get me some fertile ones. So I'm down to 18 eggs.

Thanks anyway ChickieWoo. Sorry your silkies didn't work out! Sounds like your incubation is going pretty well though. You can't count infertility.

Anyone else about the blood ring and rotten egg???

hi lady---just read the whole thread. looks like a blood ring to me. if it smells get rid of it. if it blows up in the bator the batceria will sprinkle all the eggs. not good. it will also make the house smell really bad.

did you candle the eggs before you set them? if it is spoiled this fast, it was probably bad when you set it. A sitting hen could have thrown it out of her nest because it was bad. it happens.
