Hearing my newly hatched chicks peep and watching momma take care of them. The garden, producing my own food is quite self satisfying. Not having to lock my doors, both car and house. Space away from people, because people drain my energy. Endless opportunity for discovery.

Just today we had two cow birds, 5 crows, and 8 wild turkeys that are quite friendly that will walk up within twenty feet of you.

My favorite part about living in the country is the freedom. My kids get up in the morning and go fishing in the pond. Then they do some archery practice into the hay bales or go chop up a deadfall for the fort they are building. Can't do that in the city.

Four dung beetles in the yard and several velvet ants! I hope if we just get a few chickens I hope they won't eat all the bugs.
