Aha! Just found out poultry regulations for Vancouver, WA

Well Wilco only had one kind, it is called a Still Air Incubator made by Miller Manufacturing. It does not have the egg turner but you can buy it and add it on. After reading through the directions, I am going back for the egg turner. But the incubators are 20 dollars off right now.

Wilco doesn't have great prices except during their SALES, so if you shop their sales you can do pretty well.

Hey everyone who is local. So has anyone had any problems with the code enforcment and there coops? I am not in the city but just on the edge. I am in the process of building a coop ut it is 5 feet from my property line. It is at least 80 feet from any house but still if they requiere 50 feeet how would anyone who is in a urban setting get away with it? I know I have a neighbor who has about 20 birds and there coop is not even close to 20 feet from the propery line? Anyway just asking so if you can help that would be great.

Thanks!

Sorry, I can't help you, because I'm in the county but not any city.

However, when I needed to know about dog laws when I lived in Battle Ground, I learned you can just go to your local police station and request a copy of the laws that pertain to things such as this. Or sometimes you can just call them up and ask. In the city of Battle Ground, you could just call up and ask, what is the law regarding how close coops could be to the property line to be legal and they would look it up. That way it could be based on your actual address, if you chose, if you are not within city limits.

The "couve" is a pretty big place if you asked me, they should break it up into what the neighborhoods are named.

Ok someone has to know something around here????? I have searched and searched and found nothing. The urban growth boundary thing they talked about in the beginning of this thread well there is no info on the website. I can find info on the City of Vancouver but I am just about a 1/4 mile out of the city limits. Also on the post about 50 feet for the coop well my backyard is 50 feet wide at the property line???? Just trying to figure this out before I build my coop.

Did you ever find out the answer to this question? I am also just outside the Vancouver city limits. We have a neighbor who would love to get us in trouble. In the past he's called the police because my bf was playing guitar at 4 in the afternoon. He's also posted notes on visitors cars when they park within 5 feet of his driveway citing RCW #s. It's not just us- he's cranky to the entire neighborhood. Our biggest plot of land is from the back yard to the door, only about 30 feet away, most of which is covered by our deck so there is no way I can comply with this. Please tell me you've had luck? I don't want to part with my 3 week old chickies. ;(

So it's only outside of city limits that there is a property line restriction for Large livestock housing? =/

If I click on Urban Livestock for the city of Vancouver nothing loads.

Finding this information is really frustrating !!

I'm going to go ahead and assume since chickens aren't classified as large livestock, that means I can build my coop anywhere I want.

Hi,

I live near downtown Vancouver, just before area turns into Hazel Dell.
I'm on 1/2 acre of land and am in the County but surrounded by City. For some reason our small area was never annexed to the City.

I too was looking on-line and couldn't find the definitive number of hens I'd be allowed. All we plan on having is 5 hens, so thanks for this useful information.

Got 3 chicks on Monday: Blue Andalusian, Blk Langshan, Buttercup and then today I ran up to Pioneer Feed and got 2 more chicks: Astrolorp? and one other whose name escapes me right now.
My daughter wanted one of each so we see how they work out.

You will love the Buttercup!

Thank you so much.. I have been looking and looking for this info and was about to call myself when I found your information..Great help..Thanks again..We (well my daughter is, I'm just the duck granny) are now proud owners of two runner ducks. Whole new world, but been very fun and interesting so far..

I live in Vancouver too, and just got all my not so little anymore chicks out to their new coop! I have already re-homed one rooster that started crowing and
now the other one is too. I cannot get any hits on Craigslist for this rooster and I am hoping someone here will help me find him a new home. He is very cool
and we call him Ozzy. After you see the picture you will know why! :) He is a White Crested Blue Polish and I hand raised him from a day old chick. I am not
looking for any money for him, just want him to have a good home he just wants a group of ladies to look out for.

Can anyone help me?
