I'm glad to have found this post! I am on day 5 incubating 5 Pilgrim Geese eggs. They are in a Genesis hova bator preset to 100 degrees I am keeping humidity between 50 & 55% except after misting which I started last night. It went up after misting. Last night I opened the lid, misted with room temp water and left their off 15
minutes. That was a mistKe since temp went way down and took a while to come back up. Plan to remove, mist and leave out 15 minutes tonight.

Holderread suggest to only cool them off if you are using a still incubator. So you don't need to do that in the genesis bator. The eggs need to get misted in either bator. Misting should be done with water temperature that is at 100 degrees. I use hot tap water, which is probably is hotter then that, but it instantly cools when it mists out of the pump sprayer. Don't worry about the raise in humidity after the misting, it will level back off.
