I recently had an issue with a 3 week old chick with a ruptured air sac, and I want to share my experience with treating her. I’ve included 2 pictures of her after the air sacs ruptured. She looked like an inflated balloon, and you could tell she was in pain. I found this YouTube video that walked me through removing the air with a syringe, and it worked.
. After I removed the air, I was concerned she would inflate again so I cut a section off a the finger of a woven glove and use it as a collar for about 10 hours. The last picture is of her with the black collar. It was loose enough to provide a gentle compression but allowing her to breath easily. She had a rattled breathing for about 2 weeks after, but now she is 100% okay.

I have the same problem with one of my 3 week olds. It’s been like it for a few days now. Not sure how long I should leave it before I intervene. They still seem ok in themselves - does it ever sort itself out??

Can you post pictures? Could it be her crop? If it is a leaking air sac, small, and the chick is not having trouble breathing, then I would leave it alone.

We have kept an eye on his crop and that is normal. It is all on the right side.
