Are these eggs from your games? I know with my game hen, I have to lay the eggs on their sides for a while, just to tell which end is which. If I were to put them directly in the turner, they would almost always be upside down. Maybe that's the problem? Try posting pics of them, so we can give you better info!

some are from my game,, but most are from the regular chickens,, and i will take pics in the morning,, i've played with them so much tonight, that the bator is trying to "catch up"
and YA,, the games are HARD to tell which end is which,, i think with them, i might start them the first week in 1 of the LG's ,, and then put in the GQF,,, tomorrow i guess i need to study the candling pics a WHOLE LOT more.
thankies Shelley

I have some eggs in the bator right now that are on or around day 7. I'll go take pics for ya so you can compare.

Embryos actually float while developing. If you candle an egg that's been on it's side the embryo will be on the top. So they won't actually fall on the air cell. They might get turned wrong near the end and pip the wrong way though. The air cell might also come loose and float around if they are stored down instead of up.

=then small end down in the carton, and in the fridge, :

The word "fridge" caught my eye. Did you put them in the fridge before trying to incubate them?

I lay mine on the side for the first week of incubation because after that the air sac is big enough to tell where it is. My OEG hen lays eggs that look like a baseball, and it is impossoble to tell which end is which.

Ok here are some day 7 pics...
This one is from the big end down, through the air sac.

This one is also from big end down...

This one is on its side, with the air sac on the right, and a clear area on the left. You can see a definite line between the air sac and the rest of the egg.

This is another from big end down.

And this is another on its side, with the air sac on the left, and the clear area on the right. It is a bit dark, but you can still see the dividing line between air sac and egg.
