ALABAMA!!

Wonderful! Next year is about 6 weeks away!! lol

I've promised myself not to raise as many geese next year, so I'll have goslings for sale if anyone is interested. They start laying in February. Goslings are like little puppies and so chatty and fun.

I have egg envy too!
I get $2 each for these (unsegregated, but EE, OE, or BCMs) as straight run chicks on the first Saturday after they hatch. I am pretty good at timing it so they hatch on Thursday or Friday. I charge more if they are older or if the parent stock has been segregated by breed/variety. This time of year, I require that the buyer tells me how many to set and that he/she agrees to buy every live chick that hatches, up to that number. For example, if you tell me to set 12, 6 blue and 6 dark brown, then 10 chicks hatch, you must pay me $20 for the 10 chicks and pick them up on that Saturday. Sunday, they will be for sale to whomever wants them.

It's different if I am hatching your eggs. If you provide the eggs, I charge .50c per egg set, then $1.50 per chick hatched as long as they are picked up the Saturday after they hatch. Starting Sunday, I will charge $5 per day for each day that I keep them for you, and will sell them at a week old if not picked up.
My friend want chicks especially since I said that Tomtommom might be able to pick them up for him when she picks up her chicks.. But he didn't say what he wanted. When do you need to know?

And Tomtommom can you please pick up his chicks from Wisher if he orders some?

That order will have to wait until I have them separated into their breeder pens (this spring.) What I am doing now is putting mixed eggs in the incubator and selling what hatches. It could be all EEs, all BCM or one of each and the rest OEs. I can't say. He can wait and get that order later, but they will be straight run......

I have -
EE Hen (blue eggs)
BCM Hen (dark brown eggs)

and -
EE Rooster
BCM Rooster

They are all free ranging together during the day so any combination is possible including pure EE or BCM.

EE x BCM = F1 Olive Eggers so they could hatch from either color of eggs.

I don't think he really cares. All he hopes for is that they are more hens than roos because he can't keep roo where he is either. But I think he is okay about sending roos to freezer camp.

We have only had 1 egg this week. Once a girl starts laying how long does it take to for them to get regularly laying? At this point my husband is talking starting over with pullets so we can have some eggs coming in. A friend has been awesome about giving us his excess eggs, but hubby is getting impatient and once that happens it's hard to change his mind. Plus, it is slightly embarrassing to ask for eggs when you are raising girls that are over 6 months old and still aren't laying.

End of vent...
