ALABAMA!!

I'm so ashamed! I went into TSC, just to look around, I swear! I heard the fateful peeping .....I couldn't stop myself! Before I knew it, I was leaving with 2 black sexlinks, two red pullets, two silkie straight runs, and two ducks! I need help!
........my name is Kimberly, and I'm addicted to fuzzy butt animals.

hi kimberly. Welcome to chickens anonymous. Free coffee and donuts

No they haven't layed for me yet but they are new I got them from a gentleman and he said one was laying and the other wasn't yet, however I guess with the new environment they haven't yet here's my prob I heard one of them making a strange crow sound the other morning..... Didn't sound like a normal crow. I have read that hens do crow sometimes but since I haven't seen any eggs I wonder if maybe two maybe roos. Wouldn't he have crowed before now?? And would a hen crow with a rooster around I thoughtthey oonly did that in the absence of a roo..... Where at alchickgal?? I live just south of Dothan. What all breeds do u have i'm really new to the chicken thing still learning lol thanks guys

Yes, he certainly would have crowed by now. Our roos began crowing pretty young. I've never heard a hen "crow".. I have heard a strong squawk-like noise, and then (of course) their cute laying cluck songs. If you have another photo of the other two standing, it would help. I wouldn't expect it to take them too long to adjust so they would lay. Hmmm....

I am southeast of Ashford in the Rocky Creek/Dupree Community. We are fairly new, too. (Although my hubby had chickens growing up.) We got our chicken last April-- I cannot believe it has almost been one year! We have 23 hens: RIR's, Buff O's, 2 red Sexlinks, 1 White Leghorn, and 2 Blue Copper Marans. Two weeks ago, I picked up 12 more straight run chicks: Black Copper Marans, Blue Copper Marans, Blue Ameraucanas. Ours have been wonderful so far. We have averaged about 11-12 doz/week until just recently. Right now, we are getting appx 10 dz/wk. (it is starting to pick up again, so it may have been the weather). I had hoped to add about 7 more girls to the flock. I really hope to hatch my own next. :)

Best wishes to you on yours. We love the eggs, and I absolutely love the chickens! (In case you couldn't tell yet-ha) Blessings!
