ALABAMA!!

No they haven't layed for me yet but they are new I got them from a gentleman and he said one was laying and the other wasn't yet, however I guess with the new environment they haven't yet here's my prob I heard one of them making a strange crow sound the other morning..... Didn't sound like a normal crow. I have read that hens do crow sometimes but since I haven't seen any eggs I wonder if maybe two maybe roos. Wouldn't he have crowed before now?? And would a hen crow with a rooster around I thoughtthey oonly did that in the absence of a roo..... Where at alchickgal?? I live just south of Dothan. What all breeds do u have i'm really new to the chicken thing still learning lol thanks guys

I had a rooster that wouldn't crow around the older girls... too scared

So he may very well just feel uneasy in the new environment. Same for the girls. They'll settle down in a while.

How long do i need to feed chick starter to my pullets? They've got all their feathers now.

I start mine on grower (flock raiser) right away. Never bothered with the starter. Start with layer around 18-20 weeks, if you want. Some folks just stay with the grower and offer oyster shell free choice. I would if the stuff came in pellets, rather than crumble. I freaking hate crumble.

I'm so ashamed! I went into TSC, just to look around, I swear! I heard the fateful peeping .....I couldn't stop myself! Before I knew it, I was leaving with 2 black sexlinks, two red pullets, two silkie straight runs, and two ducks! I need help!
........my name is Kimberly, and I'm addicted to fuzzy butt animals.

We do so love our fluffy butts!

I can't tell nothing...

I was hoping to see if they'd be boys or girls. I've got 4 week old chicks myself right now, but 5 are likely boys.... was hoping to add some girls of the same age, so it doesn't feel like a complete waste of time.

Here is a better pic of my trio taken this afternoon I have been letting them free range a bit to let them adjust a little better they seem to like it a lot lol

Still saying Roo in the back, two gals in the front. The tails tell me more than the faces.

Agreed. The tails and those wing feathers look like gals. They could need some adjustment time-- I have had people tell me that when they removed the roo, their girls started laying. Hopefully, they will lay soon. :)

yeah so maybe my hen was just making some crowing sounds i guess?? it was for sure one of them doing it cause i walked out there to check when i heard it cause it was so strange sounding almost like she was mocking him...only done it that one time....so do you think i should separate them a bit and take the roo away and see what happens maybe ??? they were all together like this when i bought them and they seem comfortable together...one is a little darker red than the other around the eyes than the other so im guessing shes the older of the two.....

I think I would just leave them together for now. However, if in a couple of weeks nothing changes, I'd try separating the roo. Hope you know something soon! Keep me updated, please. :)

Thank you! Oh.. you will LOVE watching them grow! I have so enjoyed nurturing these chickens. :)  I have Buff Orps-- they are beautiful. I'd love to see pics of your Black Orps.

I have really enjoyed them so far! Here is a pic of some of my Black Orps, they just started getting y'all feathers yesterday, and my Easter Eggers, who keep having crazy growth spurts of their feathers every night! I can't believe how quickly they grow!

The bigger birds like orps grows a lot slower. They mature at 2 year old

At least I finally got my mottled cochin
