I hope everyone's power is back on soon. I am a bit amazed that we didn't lose power here. Last week I worked on repairing the aluminum tube parts of my tent/shade structure which I set up outdoors to do woodworking. The storm picked it up and broke it in two places

. At least we didn't have worse damage.

It was bad all over DeKalb county. Friends lost barns, some had house damage and Fort Payne High School is delayed until 11:00 this morning. My parents lost their shed, gazebo and their pontoon boat was blown out of their pond and into the field. We were out of power all afternoon and night and my incubator with 20 cream legbars and 14 sulmtalers were at 72F degrees by the time power was restored despite being wrapped in quilt. Going up to parents this morning to clean up for them.

We are still with out power, and the power company said it could be several days before everyone is restored. I'm just so thankful that I didn't have eggs in my incubator!!! My chicks made it through, we have improvised with old oil lamps and foil to reflect, as well as wrap their box in blankets. They were pretty cold and vocal this morning so we wrapped them (only 7) in a towel and I cuddles with them under a blanket whil my daughter cleaned their bedding out and we got their box back snugly.... Our school was closed today because our lunch room has no power, but ball games are still on. Lots of damage from what I saw in the dark last night when I went to town. Hope everyone stays safe and has power restored soon!!!!

Good Lord. I think Chilton county caught the brunt of it over here.. I got some dime sized hail, but not much of it. I saw golfball sized hail in Clanton on WBRC.

I picked a fine day for the chicks to move out. Put them in in the morning, a few hours later fiance calls to warn of severe weather.

I stood in the coop with them through the hail and thunder. They were a little scared, but otherwise ok. Made them some chicken Koolaid to be on the safe side.

I spent half the night checking on them, but they were ok. A little ticked off at me, a little chilly, but they were all perky in the morning. They got warm oatmeal and yogurt. I just checked and some managed to get down in the run and were being their happy little selves. The others haven't quite figured out exactly *how* to get down.

It looks like a wonderful day today, nice and sunny. I will make sure they get their light outside for Thursday night, supposed to be in the 30s.

The storm was over fairly quickly here. Unfortunately my SIL and I were just leaving Lowes when it hit. Wind tried to pick us up while we were getting in the car and it started hail when we got close to home. I hope everyone here is doing ok.

I'm glad nobody on here was hurt! It got a little uppity here in Shelby Co. as well, but no damage or power outages.

Oh, and brief change of topic, I stumbled on this on Facebook. A farm out of GA (real close to the Alabama state line) is giving away a free coop. I think they'll even drive it to your house for you. It might be worth the "like" on Facebook.
