Thanks! I am really pleased with this generation.

Plan to have some for the chicken and egg festival. Presales only.

If they were hatched, I'd take one.

I went to Wilsonville yesterday, and got some Plymouth Rock pullets. They are so cute. I went to Chelsea Tractor Supply first. TS had Red sex links and Tetra Tints. They said that both were straight runs. I got some Golden Comets from TS last year thinking that I was only getting pullets. I was really surprised when one of my hens started crowing! I've never heard of Tetra Tints, and no one at TS could give me any information. I don't need any more roosters so I left empty handed and headed toward Wilsonville.

What store in Wilsonville? And tetra tints are just a designer production bird. http://www.tetraamericana.com/products/tetra-tint/

And Coop, obviously, you have never heard of chicken math.

No I've heard of it, just hoping that it's merely a myth.

We live 5 minutes from downtown Birmingham, so you can do that math. We have neighbors 15 ft away on either side, so the yard is fairly small. Even if we went completely chicken-crazy we don't have enough land to try and keep too many.

the people at track supply really have no idea what they are talking about or selling. you can confuse most of them by asking them for a product by the correct name. that is why i stopped purchasing chicks from there. the last time i was there i was sold what they called a rhode island red which turned out to be red sex link this was two years ago....not cool at all man

Two years ago I bought my first chicks from an elderly man who sold fresh eggs. He told me I was getting Dominekers and Ameraucana. I loved the babies and they grew up to be...Barred Rocks and Easter Eggers. But that's okay, I still love them and their eggs are delicious. Some time in the future I would like to find some real Domineques and Ameraucanas. Anybody live over on the west side of AL?
