Ok. Here are a few pictures of my "girls". Do they look like girls to you?.

Hello all! We are a small 3 acre organic farm in Parrish Alabama. Near oakman, or jasper, not too terribly far from Berry and Fayette. Excited to be on this forum. We are pretty active on the facebook chapters of Alabama chicken keeping and look forward to the community here as well! We have a nice assortment of chickens, turkeys and vegetables! We practice FF, and make our own ACV with mother. My wife also used the account silkiemomma42 on here for a while. For continuity we are going to try and keep it all one name. We shall see how that goes! Would love to add some pictures soon to show everyone our progress. We get about 10-12 eggs a day now, and have about 7 hens who should start laying in the next month or so! The weather has been soggy and hot but these chicks are doing great! We free range our laying flock during the day. The silkies, sizzles etc don't get to free range unsupervised but do have a wonderful run they exercise in during the day. We did have a cocci outbreak a few months ago so now we run a corid regimen every time we introduce new peeps outside. I know with the weather everyone is battling several different maladies. I wish you good luck and look forward to meeting you all!

Hello and welcome to you and your family. We are so glad you are here. :thumbsup

Welcome, I am glad to hear about local farms. I might want to come visit you. My sister might as well. We both homeschool and our animals are part of our school. Going to local farms helps support us as well can teach the kids more than what we know. We all learn!!

Also if anyone on or near sand mtn have any silver or gold laced Wyandotte, or light brahma can you contact me. My sister, mom and I would like to have some. I wouldn't mind having chicks.

Thanks

Who likes stinky poop? I most assuredly do not!

I started out feeding my chicks tucker milling medicated chicke starter in the green bag and had no problems. At 12 weeks I bought a 50# bag or pride and pleasure chick starter/grower and now we have stinky poop!

Our poop used to be solid dark colored and relatively odorless and now our poop is soft yellowish and stinky.

We have no signs of illness so it must be the feed! Anyone have experience with these feed mills and thier feeds. I'm kind of scared now to change them over to layer in a few weeks. I don't want it to get worse!
