ALABAMA!!

I think I have overloaded myself. Hahaha

Hatching eggs the weekends of 11th (ameracauna), 18th (turkeys), and 25th (rainbow layers), just rescued 4 donkeys, my rescued horse from October 2013 turned out to be pregnant and my hubby got me a cur puppy in March. Plus my daughter is getting married this month.

This is going to be a busy summer.
sounds like a lot of fun

So I was hoping to get some help in sexing my Black Orpingtons if I could, especially from all the experienced Orp owners on here. Here are four of them, I'm sorry it's blurry, it's hard to get them all side by side! I feel like the second from the left is the only girl there, she doesn't have the redder wattles coming in like the other three and her comb isn't as big, am I right? They are just over seven weeks old. Thanks for any help you might can give me!

The ones on both ends look like roos. Not sure about the 2 in the middle.

I am from Alabama! It's my first time to have chickens I have 4 Buff Orpingtins, 1red pullet, and 4 Easter eggers!

Welcome! This is a great forum, everyone is really helpful! If you have any questions, ask some of the pros here, or you'll probably be able to find a good thread about it on here also! That's a cute chick! Is that one of the Buff Orps? I'm brand new to chickens myself. Mine are all a little over seven weeks old. I have 6 Black Orpingtons and 9 Easter Eggers, pretty sure I have about 9 pullets in total.

Thanks! Yes that is one of my BOs. I wish I knew if I had all pullets or Roos. The BOs are straight run and I can't figure out what I have yet they are only 4wks old. The rest of my crew should be pullets though.

Hello, and welcome! You'll find lots of good info here! As to the Buffys, males usually get wattles and combs first. Especially if they are red!

I have 3 that have combs and one is behind on everything it still looks like a fluffy little chick and they are all supposed to be the same age. Is it normal to have one that far behind my EEs are 2 wks old and are the same size as the little Buff the buffs turned 4wks old today!

Hello everyone! Pleasant Grove, Alabama here!
Easter Eggers, Buff Orps (48, 9wks old), Silkies (28, 5wks old), and some wee little 2 week old Iowa Blues (27). Needless to say, we have to thin the flock out, but I had a free range flock of over 50 RIR and barnyard mixes that dwindled down to one lone surviving hen while I was going through my cancer treatments. So now that all of that is behind me, Daddy built me big coop out in the pasture and I turned my daughter's old swingset into another smaller coop in my backyard have become the crazy chicken lady in my neighborhood. We also have a little donkey and a horse and a bloodhound.
