Hello from Hueytown! Just getting started in this chicken world! So, have I understood correctly that in our area, a light is NOT necessary or even recommended?

Some people put lights in their coop to keep hens laying during the winter. Probably not a good thing, as hens need to take a break from egg laying occasionally.
