Alaska Chicken Lover's Soup for the Cold!!

Yeah, I thought that too. Oh dear! I thought for sure that Del was a roo. Tell me the RIR is still a rooster.

I need to take some pictures of the Blues I got from you. The one we both thought was a pullet still looks like a pullet, but the larger chick we thought was a roo seems less rooish. The little guy still looks like a roo, but time will tell.

I'm pretty sure the RIR is a roo... Stuart... Stewie for short.

Still small, but looking nice. Thank you. The Jersey is pretty, and I'm most excited about getting her and Bob together.

Tori, I can't wait to see what the Jersey and Bob produce. I have a cockeral that looks just like her. Would you be interested in him? He is going to be too big to breed my smaller girls but is very nice, as cockerals go. Did I mention he was free?

By the way, what ever happened to that little pullet with the slipped tendon? Are you keeping her? I have one that has a sweet disposition that is in the same condition. I am concerned that since she will be unable to cover her foot/leg with her feathers during the weather that she will suffer from frost bite. DH suggested letting her live in the garage. I about fell out. He hates the chickens in the garage. So, I thought I'd poll you and see what you suggested. Please don't say garage. I would rather cull her than let her suffer.

I'll have to think about the cockerel... it's tempting!

So far my little Gimpy is holding her own in the grow-out pen. I just cut the population in half in there, moving a lot to their new pens and selling quite a few, so she has fewer antagonists and more room to move. I may put a nest box on the floor just for her in the coop, if she can't fly up to sit on a 2x4 or in the nest box. I'd put up with overnight poopies in the nest box if it was from her.

We will just have to wait and see. I have a second one in the garage right now, and her leg is practically backwards.

I sure hope you got a couple of girl BBS Orps.

It's so hard to tell. I have 7 weekers that I look at every day and change my mind on what they are...

At 12-15 weeks you should know for sure.

Spraddle can fly up to perch right now but her leg is cocked out at an awkward angle. I guess if she can make it we'll not promote her. She is everyone's favorite.

Well, I can tell the mystery chick is definitely not an Orloff, today. See the beginnings of a single comb coming in, whereas the others are still smooth. Wonder what he/she is? Doesn't really look RLW Cornish, either.

The EGGS are in Alaska!!

How strange! I still don't see a change in any of these guys. Maybe if I get some time I'll post a photo of the other one
we had to choose from that might have been the Orloff...if anything it would be a dark cornish.

Picked up the eggs and placed them in a carton at the store big round side up. I'll take the other two eggs out of the bator tomorrow and set these.

As no one hatched and there was only water in there, do I need to clean it up again?
